Chengdu Flipflop Hostel Poshpacker (Chunxi Road Metro Station)

The location was excellent. Near the Chunxi metro station, 5 minute walk. We had no problems using the metro from the airport, (notes need to be 20 or smaller). When you come of out exit E1, the instructions state cross the road. Cross the road towards all the signs and other activity (as it's a cross road there is another road that you could cross). Walk straight for around 3-4 minutes, short cut through a paved park where the locals play cards/table tennis, you will then see an orange fruit stall and the hostel door is right there. Look up to see a sign that says Flipflop hostel or Aloha cafe (top floor- nice coffee and bar). Cheyenne at reception really helped us, she helped buy tickets to the pandas as it was a weekend you need to pre buy. She helped us with a lot of things and was really amazing. She worked really hard helping all the tourists. We had a 4 bed bunk room for the 3 of us. Which was good because I could use an extra mattress on my bed as they are thin and you need 2. Some of the beds had 2 though. The sheets and doona are of very nice quality. As it was a dorm room, the cleaning ladies came each day and took the towels away, you then need to ask for new ones each day, this is how the dorm rooms work apparently. The environment is a really retro lovely fit out and lots of places to sit. Breakfast is 15 each morning which was decent and very much appreciated in a place where western food is near impossible to find. We did not find it noisy even though a bunch of review says it is and we had, in my opinion, the worst positioned room as well, opposite the main door. I would recommend this place to any traveller, it was great price, great location, and I have nothing but praise to say about this awesome hostel.

The staff spoke English, which was helpful. Facilities were clean, Air-conditioning and WiFi is good. Location is excellent, near to metro entrance and lots of shopping and dining options. I would highly recommend this for solo travelers on a short stay. Very worth the price for its location and comfyness.

The hostel's location is situated a stone's throw away from Chunxi station, which is right smack in the city center. Walkable to Taikoo li with nice shopping malls and flagship stores all within reach. Hospitality from the staff was nothing short of impeccable. Shoutout to Kiki, Cheyenne, and Neil, for being the heart and soul of this establishment. They are always wearing a smile and ready to answer any of our questions, be it directions or just a friendly chat. The lounge and rooftop bar are full of vibes, and can make you not want to leave the hostel at all! Highly recommend this place if you prioritize the experience of travelling and meeting new people over luxury :)

I spent nearly two months at Flipflop hostel and really have to say it's one of the best value-for-experience hostels I've been in. The staff was always helpful and friendly, I especially received good care from everyone at the front desk, Niel, Cheyanne, Rain, Allena, and the others whose names I can't recall at the moment. Xiao Bo, especially, although she officially started working at the hostel later, was a huge help and friend to me, sharing lots of information about Chengdu, always being thoughtful, and going so far as to even call a customer service line when my AliPay had issues. She went above and beyond, for sure. The accommodations were very comfortable, I had a single room with a view of the park which was nice. The rooftop space was very charming, I got several Alhambra coffees, which were delicious. Rooms were cleaned daily, with water bottles provided, and everything felt comfortable. My favorite part of my stay was the weekly city walks led by MIx, I got to see so much of Chengdu I wouldn't have otherwise, and Mix, having been born and raised in Chengdu, was deeply knowledgeable. It was super well located, within walking distance to Chunxi rd. and Taikooli where I went frequently. Overall a lot of really positive qualities and I would recommend it to anyone.

We had such a perfect time. Everyone is helpful and friendly and the coffee upstairs is amazing - if you’re from a coffee-drinking country like us you will be reminded of home. If you can try and do the walking tour, it’s a great way to immerse yourself in some of the history of Chengdu and Mix (the guide and hostel manager) is really good fun and very insightful. He and his sister are amazing hosts and I can wholeheartedly recommend any of their hostels. 5 stars is often a review given under some small duress but this one is genuine because I have a few minutes to spare and we have had such a great stay!
